Dr. Lev analyzed 26 primary and metastatic ASPS tumor samples. Her study confirmes that activation of c-Met and its downstream effectors are prominent in ASPS. She also identified limited EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) expression in few tumors as well. VEGF (Vascular endothelial growth factor), was expressed in all the tumors to varying degrees. Dr. Lev concluded that there is a crucial need for better anti-ASPS therapies. Her study demonstrated that combination therapies against few activated pathways in ASPS could be the right concept for the treatment of Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma.
