Sorry Deb but Outward perimeter showing activity probably means an incomplete ablation at the margins with the inside part ablated dead, happens often with the bigger mets. Need to see the full report. Cryo can be repeated to fix it

Hello Olga
Thank you . At the consultation , I believe that was discussed . (I wasn’t there)
I believe the scan was sent to Dr. Auon, to review.
The tumor was quite large (6cm) and even with 4 probes?, I think we were thinking there was a chance of not killing it all. For all practical purposes , the liver tumor was as big as Joshua’s rt upper leg tumor was, when removed in 2012.

Joshua’s 4cm liver tumor back in 2015, I believe was performed with 2 , with a one time success .

Hope you all are well.💕

Hey all
Joshua’s lung and liver were rescanned .
Lung inflammation has resolved but as was suspected , the liver MRI showed perimeter activity .
Josh will have the cyroblation performed this Friday .
Not sure of the specifics Ie number of probes and area to be treated .

Hope to report more after Friday’s procedure .
Hope all is well with all.
Love ,

Thank you for the update. Cryo is a good procedure as there are less repeated attempts limitations, it can be repeated to fix the recurrences. We wish Josh the fast recovery. Good to hear that the lung inflammation is resolved.

Hello all
Kids are home and Josh is recovering .
The ablative area is reportedly quite bruised.
So consequently took a boost in anesthesia.

Our IR put the whammy to certainly make sure margins were obtained .
So our hope is that
A) it totally killed the tumor
B) it kept any peripheral metastatic seeding

Josh will most certainly be sore 😕😬
But I feel it’s the best course
And we have great confidence in our team .

We will update soon .❤️

Super happy for Josh and all of you!
Cryoablation is such a versatile technology in experienced hands, gently enough to be repeated to correct the shortcomings caused by by the rather large initial size of the liver met. Just make sure he is scanned in another few months to check on the margins.

Sorry to hear that, Deb. It was the brain MRI performed, correct? When was his last (previous) brain MRI done?

Hi Olga
Apparently the MRI looked fine.
Our next visit is with neurologist .
We are on vimpat till further notice .
So as Josh has no memory of what happened , we are relying on symptoms and blood work .

Perhaps a bone scan or spinal MRI could be useful too. I am sure the neurologist would be able to address other possible causes for the seizures besides of the brain met.

Thank you Olga
We are scheduled for a bone scan .
Why a spine MRI?
Thinking of some kind of spinal inflammation ?
