When the drug is approved for other indications and the physician has the evidence that the drug was helpful for someone else with the same disease, it can be prescribed on a "off label" basis. The testimony of the patient here with the contact info for his oncologist (that might be sent off the board via PM by request) might be enough for the other oncologist to initiate the doc-to-doc contact to verify the info provided here and to make a conclusion and may be prescribe this drug off label to his patient. In some cases the opinion of the oncologist is enough for the insurance to pay for the drug. If the insurance refuses to pay, there is often a program of the compassionate drug use in place founded by many big label pharmaceutical companies (but the drug needs to be prescribed by the oncologist anyway).
