This is an article published in 2011 on the Detection of ASPL / TFE3 fusion transcripts. Reported on 18 ASPS patients, including 5 follow-up of more than 100 months survival, the longest 2 cases have been followed up 185 months.

Thank you for sharing this important and very detailed study. The data and results of the study confirm for me my anecdotal observations of the past ten+ years that seem to indicate that "Poor prognostic factors have been reported to include older patient age and larger tumour size and of course metastatic disease at presentation [2, 19]. In our series, the ten patients who are alive without evidence of disease were somewhat younger than the eight who died of disease or are alive with metastatic disease, and the former group had significantly smaller tumours (8/10 had tumours 5 cm or less compared to 8/8 having tumours of 7 cm or more)."
Of course there are exceptions to this, and a pro-active and very knowledgedable treatment approach is certainly a significant factor, although sadly it doesn't always change the ultimate outcome. The apparent relation between tumor size and survival also indicates to me the importance of removing the primary tumor and removing/destroying other mets at the smallest possible size after diagnosis.
