false positives on the bone scan

Post by Olga »

In the beginning - 3 years ago - when doctors were doing staging for Ivan which is basically the question if there is only primary tumour (stage 3 for ASPS) or also distant mets (stage 4), he had 2 false positive findings by the bone scan:
1. upper head of the shoulder bone was positive - ruled out due to to local inflammation after a recent sport trauma;
2. multiple small positive focuses in his both legs bones - ruled out due to its unusuall looks and symmetry - they say that mets are never symmetrical, so it was decided to be his own specific.
It was 3 years ago with no symptoms so I hope that it proves those findings to be false positives.
